Last month it was announced that pre-orders of the Oculus Rift was made available from retail stores across the UK, Europe, and Canada, with GAME holding demos over the past month to lead up to this point. Now, if you didn’t put down your pre-orders, you will now be able to go to the selected stores and pick up an Oculus Rift for yourself.
The stores are still the same as what was announced for the pre-orders – John Lewis, Curry’s PCWorld, Harrods and GAME will all be stocking the head-mounted display (HMD), with orders available online for Amazon UK. The price will still stand at £549 (GBP), but there will of course be no more P&P fee as you will not have to buy it from the US anymore.
Previously it was said that there weren’t any demos listed on Oculus’ map, but now all of the demos for the UK have been listed. Locations round the UK that have been put on the map from top to bottom are Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, Norwich, Milton Keynes, Cardiff and London. Unfortunately there are none right now for Northern Ireland, however there are new locations to be added each week.
With each Rift will come Lucky’s Tale, as well as “hundreds of free 3D 360 videos and VR movies, plus access to the ever-expanding collection of made-for-VR games and experiences on the Oculus Store.”
