Back in April Shaun Williams and MAG Studios’ virtual reality (VR) videogame CDF Starfighter VR launched on Steam for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Still currently in Steam Early Access the team has now released a new trailer which was originally made for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June.
The trailers release is to mark the upcoming release of CDF Starfighter VR’s 0.83 update alongside a new website and branding for the project. Few details have been released on the new update but the video does list five game modes while the key features listed on the current Steam page states only four.
Currently there are six different ships each with their own advantages and disadvantages available to suit various gameplay styles. Each ship is very different and certain ships are designed for specific roles. These are: Starfighter Type-Y, Assault Fighter, Heavy Starfighter, Scout, Heavy Gunship and Transport.
Regular readers of VRFocus may remember that CDF Starfighter VR originally sought funding on Kickstarter last year. That funding campaign wasn’t a success but recently Razer, one of the main companies behind the Open Source Virtual Reality (OSVR) head-mounted display (HMD) announced that 15 videogames would receive funding through the OSVR Developer Fund and CDF Starfighter VR was one of the lucky ones to be choosen.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of CDF Starfighter VR, reporting back with the latest announcements.
