The annual IBC conference has begun in Amsterdam, Netherlands, bringing together companies and professionals who specialise in delivering entertainment and news content worldwide. UK-based studio Focal Point VR will be at the event and the company has announced it’ll be debuting it virtual reality (VR), 360-degree live-streaming platform to attendees.
With Focal Point VR’s platform viewers can see and interact with each other using avatars all within an interactive, 360-degree live-streaming video experience. So participants can share in the same live event thus enhancing the immersive capabilities of VR.
The company’s camera-to-headset integrated platform features support for better than broadcast quality 6k VR camera system, cross-platform capabilities, live multi-camera view streams and an embeddable HTML5 player.
Jonathan Newth, CEO of Focal Point VR said, “We believe that some of the most compelling VR experiences will come from being able to virtually attend live events surrounded by friends and family. Our technology allows broadcasters to engage with consumers on a completely new level.”
Focal Point VR is compatible with all major head-mounted displays (HMDs) including the Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Google Cardboard and PlayStation VR, offering users an immersive and interactive experience at events anywhere in the world.
