World War Toons will Feature Capture the Flag Level for Open Beta

There’s only a couple of months to go until the launch of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE’s) PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD). There’s going to be a mixture of experiences available on 13th October with one of them now confirmed to be Reload Studios’ multiplayer shooter World War Toons. The developer will be releasing an open beta and part of that will include a new capture the flag arena.

Called Pyramid Scheme, it’s the fourth level revealed for the videogame and takes a different aesthetic approach to the other areas. While the others are firmly rooted in a World War 2 theme, with European styles towns to fight in, Pyramid Scheme, as the name suggests goes for a classic Egyptian style. There are giant columns and animal statues throughout, displaying the kind of grand architecture the ancient race were known for.

The video below gives a brief run around of the level, showcasing the layout and some of the different ways to get around the area and some traps that lay in wait. Being a capture the flag map the flag in question is the Ra Chicken, located deep within the bowels of the level. Grab it then head back to your base as quickly as possible.

Back in May Reload Studios announced World War Toons would be a free to play videogame for both Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR. The boon for PlayStation VR owners will be that they get to play the title first.

Talking about the decision to launch on PlayStation VR first Reload Studios CEO, James Chung has said: “We’re big fans of the work Sony has done with PlayStation VR. From day one of our studio, we knew Sony would be an important partner in VR gaming because of their history of handling hardware, software, as well as the content platform business. So when we were focusing on what platform to release on first, PSVR was a perfect fit.”

VRFocus will continue its coverage of World War Toons, reporting back with any further announcements.
