This week’s push for sports in virtual reality (VR) features two different events with very different representations. NextVR continue their aggressive push for livestreaming big name matches while The College Football Hall of Fame and Chick-fil-A Fan Experience has completed the installation of a unique exhibition.

Fox Sports & NextVR to Livestream Opening Match of the 2016/2017 Bundesliga Season

Continuing its relationship with FOX Sports, NextVR will present the opening match of the 2016/2017 Bundesliga season in live VR. Kicking off the start of one of Europe’s leading football competitions on 26th August 2016, NextVR will broadcast Bayern München vs. Werder Bremen from Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. Available to fans in select locations globally, the match is scheduled for 8:30pm CET/2:30pm EDT/11:30am PDT.

In total, seven cameras will capture action, providing pitch-level shots This marks the first time the Bundesliga will broadcast live to an international audience in VR.

“Virtual reality will allow fans globally to experience the Bundesliga opening match on a platform they’ve never experienced,” Dr Holger Blask, Director Audiovisual Rights and Member of the Executive Committee. “The Bundesliga is excited to bring new exciting technology to live sporting events.”

The College Football Hall of Fame and Chick-fil-A Fan Experience

The College Football Hall of Fame and Chick-fil-A Fan Experience, in conjunction with AT&T, has completed installation of the new AT&T Virtual Stadium incorporating Samsung Gear VR. The exhibit will be updated annually adding more schools as new 360 VR footage is captured during the college football season.

“Using cutting-edge technology to fully immerse visitors into the game of college football is the cornerstone of our attraction,” said Hall Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Adamovich. “This new virtual reality exhibit is an amazing addition made possible by one of our founding partners, AT&T and provides an incredible experience to kick off the college football season.”

The College Football Hall of Fame and Chick-fil-A Fan Experience is a 94,256-square-foot attraction located in the heart of Atlanta’s sports, entertainment and tourism district, adjacent to the Georgia World Congress Center and Centennial Olympic Park. The Hall provides visitors with a highly immersive, interactive and engaging experience using a blend of historic college football artifacts and state-of-the-art, interactive multimedia exhibits. Penn State and EON Sports VR Launch LionVision VR Channel

Penn State’s University Nitanny Lions are coming to VR to share practice footage, scrimmages, huddles, and interviews from all 31 teams.

Michae Cross, Assistant Athletic Director for New Business Development, said in a press release: “LionVision VR will allow Nittany Lion fans spread across the world to see, hear and feel what it’s like to be part of practice and game day in ways that were never previously possible. This is the next best thing to being in State College. If you love Penn State, you can look forward to having regular experiences with LionVision VR.”

MLB Continues VR Support With San Francisco Giants and Toronto Blue Jays

Earlier this week it was shared that Jaunt had released yet another MLB-centric series of episodes, and this time it is centered around the Giants and the Blue Jays.

Viewers can check out how training is going, as well as what goes on in the locker rooms. There are three experiences in total, and they are all currently available on the Jaunt VR app and online.
