All we seem to be doing during the whole of August is be counting down the days until the major reveals, and one of the biggest events left of the calendar is of course Oculus Connects 3, and we are told that there is still much to be announced – including about the Touch controllers. What has been shared today, however, is that Oculus Medium will be packaged with the controllers for its release this year.
In a video by Oculus, it shows various artists trying out the software, where they are able to sculpt things as they hold it and move it around. Brian from Oculus in the video explains that it is “digital clay”, and all of those who try out the software in the video hadn’t tried out much technology before it seems. “I suddenly realised that working with traditional 3D modelling programs its like working with one hand tied behind your back”, says one participant.
Now, we aren’t going to ignore that it is very similar to the Tiltbrush application for the HTC Vive, and it seems that these sculpting and arty applications are as essential as Microsoft Paint, so it isn’t too much of a surprise that Oculus Medium has been chosen as the number one application to be paired with the Touch controllers upon its release and shipping.
It isn’t clear when the controllers will be coming out, but what is for sure is that it will be before we see the end of the year.
