Final Fantasy XV is set to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year, with the former to include a PlayStation VR compatible experience, Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience. However, there’s more virtual reality (VR) on the way, as Final Fantasy XV is set to receive additional VR content as part of its Season Pass.
In the latest issue of Famitsu, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata discussed the Season Pass content for the videogame as well as the future VR content. Six pieces of content have already been confirmed, Booster Pack, Episode Gladiolus, Holiday Pack, Episode Ignis, Episode Prompto and Expansion Pack. However this is not all that’s planned for Final Fantasy XV.
Coming via translation, translation courtesy of Gematsu, Tabata revealed more is planned to aid the longevity of Final Fantasy XV: “Those are what we’ve announced, something we’ve decided that we’ll certainly do.
“Right now the top priority is polishing the main game,” he said. “Once we can be finished with that, I think we can get up to speed on downloadable content and VR content. And by the way, Episode Prompto is different than the [PlayStation VR] content we announced with the Season Pass.”
Reading between the lines, this means that the Episode Prompto add-on included in the Season Pass doesn’t contain the same content as the Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience demo showcased at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Los Angeles, back in June, which also starred Prompto.
As VRFocus has previously reported, the Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience is expected to be available alongside PlayStation VR at launch. The recent delay in the release of the Final Fantasy XV ensures that all PlayStation VR early adopters will be able to play the Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience on day one, which can only be a good thing for those ready to jump into VR.
As more details are revealed concerning the Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience and additional Final Fantasy VR content, you can be sure that VRFocus will keep you updated.
