This is not quite like a virtual reality (VR) racer, nor is it quite a rollercoaster, as Project Drone: No Limits takes you on a stunt-heavy journey where you direct your own gravity defying flight, and even race against other drones online.
In Project Drone: No Limits, it really does seem as though it is what it says on the tin. Explore various locations and tracks as a drone, and the goal of the game is pretty clearly set out – to become the best drone pilot ever through training and flying. Although, it really does need to be said that it’s not known how friendly this title would be on the stomach in VR – or on your reactions if you hit a wall and fall out of the sky. However, there are two camera views, so playing in third person rather than first may help with this.
There is a chance to play this both single player and multiplayer online. When flying, the quality of your flying is very much dependent on how healthy it is, as it takes damage and reacts accordingly. However, repairs can be easily done after the race – or you could completely rebuild a new one if you fancy, with different frames, motors, props, antennas, and even the colour.
There are several modes to play this in: career, which lets you race and work your way up to the top of the league; multiplayer, which lets you battle by yourself or in teams; arcade, where you can fly either one or any of the courses you have unlocked; freestyle, which enables you to explore and train; time trial, which is pretty much self-explanatory as you can record your fasts time and fly against your own ghost; and stuns and tricks, where players can try out their coolest skills.
Project Drone: No Limits is currently at the start of its Kickstarter campaign, with 24 days left to reach its goal of €12,000. This will be supported by the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR head-mounted displays (HMD).
