It has been a long time since gamers got to take control of gifted psychic Raz following the first Psychonauts game in 2005. However, despite speculation and a number of cameos – including his decaying skeleton being hidden in Alice: Madness Returns – the Psychonauts series is only now returning. Eventually through a sequel, but before that is the bridge that links it to the original. That bridge is the PlayStation VR game Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin.
Originally announced at the end of 2015 and confirmed to be a PlayStation VR launch title at the beginning of this July, you can find more about the process of bringing the game to life in “Reinventing ‘Psychonauts‘ For VR” just one of the talks at this years VRDC. Which is also due to have sessions on non-gaming topics across the two-day event.
Other now confirmed VR gaming discussions include “VR Usability In Wonderland” which is set to instruct on the how to “emotionally captivate players in VR games”. Previous confirmed names including representatives from NASA – who have been very open about their experiments with multiple virtual and augmented reality (AR) systems – and The Farm 51, creators of educational experience Chernobyl VR.
The VR exclusive event will take place across the 2nd and 3rd of November 2016 and will be held in the Park Central Hotel in San Francisco, California. With early registration set to end in the next couple of weeks. VRFocus will of course bring you news of any developments that occur at the event.
