German developer CrazyBunch, the team behind Break A Brick on Samsung Gear VR, has today announced a new virtual reality (VR) title which will be unveiled at Gamescom next week called KryptCrawler.
KryptCrawler is a first-person dungeon explorer that’s combines classic grid and turn based gameplay along with real-time combat and modern VR technology. As players descend into the dark and sinister tombs of the dungeon they’ll find all manner of foes awaiting them, from the undead remains of previous warriors to poisonous scorpions, hungry spiders and other creatures. And to aid in the quest, there will be powerful weapons to find and magic spells to learn. Just like traditional role-playing games (RPG’s) there will be several combat styles to choose from, depending on character preference. So whether you’re more of a close melee fighter, prefer the long distance of a ranged bow, or want to focus purely on magic, there will something for everyone.
Along with monster to fight and skills to learn KryptCrawler also adds a puzzle dynamic to the gameplay, whereby traps have to be avoided and puzzles umlocked to progress deeper into the catacombs.
The title is set to feature 12 story levels and once those have been completed players will be able to take on over 100 procedurally generated New Game + levels.
KryptCrawler will support mobile VR head-mounted displays (HMDs), with the studio focus on Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream. From the details CrazyBunch has released already, it seems as if KryptCrawler won’t require a Bluetooth controller for Gear VR as touchpad support has already been confirmed to be included. While the team is solely working on mobile VR, they’ve not yet confirmed if KryptCrawler will also support Google Daydream.
As more details on KryptCrawler are released at Gamescom, VRFocus will bring you the latest updates.
