It was a few months ago when VRFocus last concentrated on Star Wars: Triels on Tatooine with a preview of the latest build available on the HTC Vive. It has come to light recently that the title is making moves to appear on Steam, although it isn’t clear exactly when.
Steam Database, or SteamDB, gives the overall look at each application and package on the store, and Trials on Tatooine has appeared as a virtual reality (VR) app. There isn’t too much to be taken away from the page, only the scaling information, and the fact that the release date is “unavailable”, but it is being updated regularly with the last entry today.
Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine, developed by ILMxLAB, is a title that follows through with the story set out by the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with the player can be a pupil of the school established by Luke Skywalker. As outlined in the preview, the demo of the title let the player experience repairing the Millennium Falcon, and once the repair is finished R2-D2 makes an appearance. This is when a battle begins and the player has the chance to weild the lightsaber to defend against Stormtroopers.
For those of you attending Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 this weekend in London’s ExCeL Centre, you will have the only chance in the world to try it out: “Presented by Lucasfilm’s immersive entertainment group ILMxLAB, with this installation supported by HTC, Celebration will be the only place in the world to experience the critically-acclaimed title.” The demo will take place on 15th July throughout the day, from 10am until 7pm.
Stay tuned for the more updates on the arrival of this title on Steam. For more on the latest news and updates in the world of VR, make sure to check back with VRFocus.
