Finally Find out What’s Going on in The Assembly Today

It was just over two years ago that VRFocus first reported on British developer nDreams’ major virtual reality (VR) title The Assembly. The studio announced the title in June 2014, and since then the team has revealed quite a lot of information about the project through dev blogs and making-of videos. All that has now come to an end as The Assembly has finally launched today.

To celebrate the launch nDreams has released a brand new trailer that highlights The Assembly’s deep storyline and tense atmosphere. The main story revolves around an organisation called The Assembly, that operates outside of the government and the law, and as such performs morally ambiguous experiments. As the player learns about what goes on it’s up to them to decide whether the organisation is good or bad.

Both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted display’s will see a release on Oculus Home and Steam respectively. Priced at $29.99 USD / €24.99 EUR / £19.99 GBP, a non-VR edition will be released for Windows PC at the same time, priced at $19.99 / €19.99 / £14.99. For owners of the non-VR edition, if they do decide to purchase a HMD they’ll have the option to upgrade to the VR version at anytime. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE’s) PlayStation VR will also get support after it launches in October 2016.

While this is nDreams’ first big videogame launch there’s going to be much more to come when it comes to future projects. In May this year at the Google I/O 2016 conference the search giant announced its next headset, Daydream, and nDreams was confirmed as one of the content partners. After that the studio’s CEO Patrick O’Luanaigh revealed nDreams has two Daydream specific projects in the works, although he didn’t reveal what they were.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of The Assembly and nDreams, reporting back with any further announcements.
