A Beta of 6DOF Shooter Sublevel Zero Can Now be Played on Oculus Rift
Dive into the procedurally generated world of Sublevel Zero in VR.
It been awhile coming but Sigtrap Games has now given Oculus Rift owners the first glimpses of its 6 degrees-of-freedom (6DOF) shooter Sublevel Zero. The studio has released a beta update for the title to showcase what’s in store.
This isn’t the first time Sigtrap Games has made the videogame available in virtual reality (VR). Originally Sublevel Zero supported the Oculus Rift DK2 during 2015 but since it fully launched player have been waiting for a further update to arrive.
Now as this is a beta version the team has added a couple of recommendations saying that all graphics to be set to minimum to start with, turn off autolevel, use the new Snap Roll mode and switching to the ‘Agility A’ or B layout in the control menu is probably going to give the best experience at this time.
The features Sigtrap Games has added in the latest update are:
Rift CV1 support
Snap roll can now be used without autolevel
Fixed screen shake sometimes resetting to ‘normal’
Fixed win:loss ratio on stats screen
Preset descriptions aren’t great! We’re working on proper diagrams.
Reticle head-tracking can be strange sometimes
Controller UI selection sometimes gets lost on control and crafting menus
Still using a beta version of Unity, so please tell us if you get any crashes etc!
Sublevel Zero has been inspired by classics like Descent and Forsaken. The first-person experience gives players control of a lone gunship around randomly generated levels set in an underground facility. As they weave through tunnels and caverns players will encounter enemies and gather keys to unlock new paths. Weapons are also randomly generated and gathering upgrades will allow players to combine them to create more powerful tools.
