VP of VR at HTC Says More AAA-Titles to Come to the HTC Vive
We could be seeing more videogames like Fallout 4 come to the headset
With the latest announcement of Fallout 4 being reworked as a virtual reality (VR) title and coming to the HTC Vive at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), there has been a huge buzz surrounding the implications and prospects of VR with the arrivals of videogames from the mass market. HTC has now said that we can be expecting more big titles to be announced over the next few months.
When asked if there will be a trend of AAA-titles to come to the HTC Vive during an interview with VRFocus, Joel Breton, VP of VR for HTC Vive, responded with: “Well yeah, definitely we hope so, and we’re doing what we can to make sure that’s the case. What I can say is that these games that take a longer time to produce and develop, there are several great content pieces that are in development now, probably not ready to announce yet, but that people are working. Announcements will be coming in the following months and so forth.”
Breton also went on to use Ubisoft as an example of larger developers supporting VR and making it possible to bring more big titles to VR: “I think what we’re seeing now is the first… From Ubisoft they clearly announced a huge slew of VR titles, and has been a great supporter of VR from the beginning. We certainly applaud them for that, that they’ve been an early supporter of VR content, and their games just look absolutely amazing, so we can’t wait to release those to the world and see what they think of the AAA kind of content level.”
