Virtual reality (VR) production company Visualise is a prolific creator of immersive experiences, having graced the pages of VRFocus on numerous occasions. The company has now announced its latest VR project in partnership with Vertical Productions, a London-based video production company for Audi UK.
Being showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the next couple of days, the Audi Sport VR experience will give viewers the chance to be a passenger in a race around the Indy Circuit at Brands Hatch – with Audi Sport Le Mans racing driver Oliver Jarvis at the wheel. As visitors wait to experience a test drive in a variety of Audi quattro cars on the 4×4 course, they’ll be able to jump into the VR race.
Using an Oculus Rift viewers will be able to choose either the Audi R8 V10 plus or the Audi RS 6 Performance, and then make a series of decisions once the race has begun resulting in different outcomes. Pick incorrectly or too slowly and the race is over.
Henry Stuart, Founder & CEO of Visualise said: “This project really highlights the immersive possibilities of virtual reality. We were tasked with creating a project that gave people the opportunity to experience Audi Sport while waiting in the quattro area. Audi have a history of creating innovative and forward thinking cars, so we had to work to create an experience that brought the drive to life.”
While Karen Boulton, Audi UK, commented: “We were keen to provide an interactive experience in the quattro area while people waited for their test drive, and what better way than to give them a chance to take part in a virtual reality race where they have to make quick decisions just like a professional racing driver? The experience Visualise and Vertical Productions have created has delivered on all of our expectations and we can’t wait to see people’s reactions at the festival.”
VRFocus will keep you up to date with all the latest projects from Visualise, as further announcements are made.
