nDreams’ Final Instalment of The Assembly Video Series Looks at Telling Stories in VR

Over the last few weeks virtual reality (VR) specialist nDreams has released a series of videos going behind-the-scenes on the development of The Assembly. The first instalment looked at “Designing for Virtual Reality”, the second was Art & Sound in “Virtual Reality”, and the third – unveiled this week – looks at “Telling Stories in Virtual Reality”.

For The Assembly the team wanted to create an immersive story that was engaging for players experiencing this virtual world. Senior Designer Jackie Tetley discusses the decisions the studio took to create the videogame’s characters and world.

The Assembly is an organisation operating outside of the government and the law, and as such performs morally ambiguous experiments. As the player learns about what goes on it’s up to them to decide whether the organisation is good or bad.

Along with the video nDreams has also revealed the voice-actors behind the two protagonists. “Madeleine Stone and Cal Pearson are played by Camilla Power and Matt Rippy respectively. Christy Meyer plays Cal’s intellectual rival Elizabeth Chevez, who is also overseeing Madeline’s initiation into the Assembly. Joining them as Cal’s close friend and junior associate Anton Ruiz is Will Harrison-Wallace, while Vincent Brimble takes on the role of the Assembly’s elusive Director,” states the nDreams blog. The title will also include fully localised voice acting in French and German.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of The Assembly, reporting back with any further news.
