Horror Title Allison Road Suddenly Cancelled

The last 12 months have been quite a rollercoaster year for UK-based developer Lilith with its virtual reality (VR) videogame Allison Road, but now it seems to have come to an abrupt end. The studio launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign in September 2015, but cancelled it a month later after getting publisher support from Worms developer Team 17. Since then things have been quiet until this weekend where an announcement on Twitter declared the project has been cancelled.

On the official Allison Road Twitter account it said: “Hi all. Sadly Allison Road had to be cancelled. Statement to come in the next few days. Thx for all your support and very sad it came 2 this.” No other details are currently available until either Lilith or Team 17 issue a statement on what has happened.

Allison Road looked to be a promising horror title for platforms such as PlayStation 4, Oculus Rift and a rumoured PlayStation VR version. The project had garnered lots of support through Steam Greenlight, getting Greenlit in 48 hours back in June 2015. And even before cancelling the Kickstarter the studio had raised £145,959 GBP out of its £250,000 goal from 4,482 backers.

Whatever the reasons it’s another addition to the mountain of games that look great but never see the light of day. As the cancellation details are released, VRFocus will bring you the latest updates.
