Experience the Luxury of Etihad Airways in VR Film Reimagine

A few weeks ago VRFocus reported on Abu Dhabi airline Etihad Airways creating a 360-degree film starring Academy Award winning actress and Etihad Airway’s brand ambassador, Nicole Kidman. At the time the company released a short trailer for the experience, but today Reimagine has now become available.

Reimagine is a five-minute feature that accompanies Kidman on a journey from New York to Abu Dhabi on one of Etihad’s new Airbus A380’s. Shot over six-months Reimagine was filmed entirely in Abu Dhabi and takes the viewer through the twin-decked aircraft, covering Economy Class, Business Class, First Class and The Residence.

Etihad Airways teamed up with the Barbarian Group, a subsidiary of Cheil Worldwide, and digital production company MediaMonks to create the 360-degree film, with husband and wife directing duo Anthony Atanasio and Valerie Martinez at the helm.

Kidman, said in a statement: “The film is a culmination of Etihad’s vision to tell the airline’s story in an extremely innovative way and a commitment to engaging with the public as has never been attempted by an airline before. It was a great challenge but one which has definitely paid off and it was great to be part of such an exciting project.”

While Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ CEO, said: We want to share Etihad’s story in a completely new way, using technology to make our consumers a part of the narrative and to experience an Etihad Airways A380 flight first-hand, from anywhere.

The film demonstrates how, as an innovative brand, we continue to break down the barriers of convention and lead the way in intelligent communication and best practice not just within the aviation industry, but across the fields of marketing, communication and technology.”

The film is currently available for Android and iOS devices, and supports head-mounted displays (HMDs) like Google Cardboard. Etihad Airways also plan to release the experience on YouTube and Samsung Gear VR soon.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of 360-degree films, reporting back with the latest releases.
