Last year developer DeNA launched first-person action adventure title Protocol Zero on the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD). Today the studio has announced a partnership with Sidekick VR for exclusive worldwide publishing rights for the videogame.
With this collaboration Sidekick VR will continue support and create updates for Protocol Zero, which will include the addition of multiple touchpad controls and functionality for the Gear VR gamepad. Sidekick VR will also develop Protocol Zero for other mobile virtual reality (VR) platforms, that support HMDs like Google Cardboard or Merge VR.
“DeNA’s Protocol Zero is one of the most immersive first person shooters in mobile VR today,” said Guy Bendov, CEO of Sidekick VR. “We are thrilled to be in partnership with DeNA to further expand Protocol Zero and to bring this premium experience to fans engaged on other mobile VR platforms.”
“Our goal was to partner with a best-in-class mobile VR game publisher to expand Protocol Zero’s reach,” said Jennie Sue, Sr. Business Development Manager, DeNA West. “Sidekick VR’s commitment to creating engaging content and their expertise within the cross-platform mobile VR marketplace makes them a perfect fit for continued publishing and expansion of Protocol Zero.”
Protocol Zero is a stealth videogame where players take on the role of a lone operative in a war-torn city who has Night, X-ray and thermal vision to covertly infiltrate enemy territories to overthrow the brutal regime.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of Protocol Zero, reporting back any further updates.
