Crytek’s The Climb Launches on Oculus Rift

Ever since Crytek announced it’s Oculus Rift exclusive title The Climb back in December 2015, the developer has released a steady stream of updates including trailers and dev diaries. Today the virtual reality (VR) videogame has now launched on Oculus Home for players to test their climbing skills with a price of $49.99 USD.

In The Climb players take on the challenge of finding the right path up various mountain ranges based on real life areas like the Alps in some of the most detailed VR gameplay available. Traversing these rugged, expansive landscapes will grant you views for snow capped vistas, fairy tale castles and much more.


It’s an experimental title that utilises the supplied Xbox One controller, but Crytek have previously stated that support will become available for the Oculus Touch position-tracked controllers when they become available later this year.

As well as The Climb Crytek is also working on supporting VR with the latest version of its videogame development engine CryENGINE V. The middleware was revealed at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016 in March and features a raft of VR centric additions for studios to utilise.
