Powis Parker Inc. Unveils PopUp ViewR Headset

There’re plenty of cheap Google Cardboard style head-mounted displays (HMDs) on the market for anyone that’s not interested in making their own from the free designs available online. But there isn’t as many portable versions for consumers who like to view virtual reality (VR) away from home. Powis Parker Inc. a manufacturer of cardboard style headsets has now announced its latest, the PopUp ViewR.

The company isn’t directly targeting consumers with PopUp ViewR, the headset is being aggressively priced for businesses to use for marketing campaigns, large events, trade shows/conferences, sporting  events, concerts, and other applications.

“Google Cardboard has fundamentally changed the VR market,” says Powis founder Kevin Parker in a statement. “Now, for a fraction of the cost of typical head-mounted devices (HMDs), companies can deliver compelling VR experiences to all kinds of audiences.”

“VR is a democratizing technology,” said Mahmoud Mattan, Director of Business Development for Powis. “It gives people the opportunity to experience moments that were previously reserved for the wealthy, daring or famous; like watching the Super Bowl from the first row of the 50 yard line or traveling to the Eiffel Tower. We created our VR viewers to enable organizations and marketing agencies to bring these experiences to everyone.”

A single headset will cost $14.99 USD, while large customized orders would see the price drop to $9.00 USD or lower per HMD. Powis’ PopUp ViewR will be suitable for any Android and iOS smartphone with a screen size between 4 – 6.5 inches.

VRFocus will continue to follow any further updates from Powis Parker Inc on any future VR HMDs.
