Original Esper Still on For Oculus Rift Port

In the run up to the launch of the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) it was thought that UK-based indie developer Coatsink would be releasing a port of its popular Gear VR title, Esper, onto the platform. As fans found out a few weeks before yesterday’s launch, however, that wasn’t quite the case. Instead of the original title its sequel, Esper 2, launched on the device for $9.99 USD/£7.99 GBP. Fans of the first title need not worry, though, as it’s still planned for release.

Coatsink confirmed as much in a recent press release sent out to announce the launch of Esper 2 on Oculus Rift. In fact, the first title is still expected to arrive in the first half of 2016, so it shouldn’t be too long before it’s made available. The original Esper first launched in early 2015 with its sequel following up later in the year. It grants players telekinetic powers which they must use to solve a variety of puzzles. There’s no word yet on if Coatsink could be offering some sort of bundle both the VR titles.

Outside of the Esper series, Coatsink is also working to bring Boneloaf’s Gang Beasts to the Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR in the future. The title will be on display next month at EGX Rezzed in London, UK.
