Since Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) launched last year, the company has been providing weekly updates with new content via its video streaming service known as Milk VR. The free app allows users to stream or download videos from a variety of genres with a fully-immersive 360-degree viewing landscape. Samsung is now expanding its video offering with the launch of some exciting new VR content.
At the recent Samsung Unpacked 2016 event, it was announced that over 1 million hours of video have been watched via Samsung’s Gear VR and there are now more than 550 videos available on the Milk VR app from top brands, entertainment companies and filmmakers. Building on this success, Samsung have revealed the details of some brand new content:
Lilliehammer 360 (USOC/Next VR) allows users to experience extreme skiing high up in the mountains in 360-degree virtual reality. All Access: Fashion Week (WSJ) lets you experience New York Fashion Week as you follow Jason Wu making preparations for his show. How Close is Too Close? (XFINITY/Groove Jones) will bring you closer to NASCAR than ever before and there are also two new immersive roller-coaster experiences. Tatsu (Six Flags) is a hanging roller coaster ride that takes you on a thrilling ride, high up in the sky while Twisted Colossus (Six Flags) – is a dual roller coaster where the audience can ride along through every twist and turn.
