Over the past year you may have seen VRFocus report on the Granite software development kit (SDK) from Graphine. This new middleware is aiming to offer high quality textures within virtual reality (VR) experiences, and recently introduced a new plugin to make it compatible with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4. Today, however, Graphine is announcing that another developer that will be making use of the Granite SDK in two of its upcoming VR compatible projects. That developer is Sólfar Studios, the team behind EVEREST VR and Godling.
This means fans can expect an improved visual experience in both products going forward. As the name suggests, EVEREST VR will allow players to explore the iconic mountain in VR for the first time, experiencing both its beauty and dangers. Godling, on the other hand, is lesser known. The PlayStation VR exclusive experience is described as a sandbox adventure title, but little has been seen from it since its announcement at E3 2016.
“We’re very excited to collaborate with Solfar Studios. They plan to set the bar for graphics quality in VR with their EVEREST VR experience,” Graphine CEO Aljosha Demeulemeester, said of the news. “It’s a perfect match with Granite, which is designed to handle massive amounts of texture content while ensuring a solid framerate for a great VR experience.”
Stay tuned to VRFocus for the latest updates on both Sólfar Studios and Graphine’s work in VR.
