AMD Says Battlezone Will Be DirectX 12 Compatible

Yesterday Rebellion released the gameplay trailer for the new action-packed Battlezone campaign, with more insights into the game in development surely to come of this, but there has only been excitement for its release on PlayStation VR (PSVR) as a launch title. Although hinted at previously, more news came out yesterday that a PC release of the title will materialise soon now that AMD has stated Battlezone‘s DirectX support.

Richard Hudd, Chief Gaming Scientist for AMD, stated at GDC that Battlezone will be DirectX 12 compatible, raising both attention and excitement for a potential Oculus Rift version of the classic arcade tanker reboot. In a previous interview with VRFocus, CEO and Creative Director of Rebellion, Jason Kingsley, has no doubt that the Rift version of Battlezone will be easily enough projected, but also said: “We are doing a lot of work on DirectX 12, and it really depends on how well Oculus works on DirectX 12.”

As Battlezone will be launched first on PSVR, still officially said to be aiming for release in the first half of 2016, there is still some time to see how the Oculus Rift version develop.
