Surviving and battling through a zombie apocalypse has been a very popular theme in videogames for countless years. So its no surprise that they would feature in virtual reality (VR), and now indie developer Invrse Studios is bringing its own vision for battling the hordes of the undead to the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD). The studio has recently released the first footage for its VR title The Wake, giving a glimpse at its plans.
This first teaser video for The Wake puts you in a confined city street with shambling skinless enemies coming forth to hasten your demise. In the pre-alpha footage the character has an assortment of weapons lying around, mostly hand-to-hand melee combat-based, but there is a handgun for good measure. Weapons on offer include an axe, baseball bat and a chainsaw, as well just using your fists.
Because of the HTC Vive’s two motion-tracked controllers players will be able to duel weapons they find, or just the ones they prefer for their playing style. Then its down to business, smashing heads in and fighting your way out.
Further details like story, levels, other enemy types and so forth aren’t yet available, and a release date is just listed as coming soon. With the teaser just launching its unlikely The Wake will be available for the launch of the HTC Vive headset, as pre-orders are due to open today, with shipping taken place from 5th, April 2016.
VRFocus will report on any further details released by Invrse Studios for its VR survival videogame The Wake, as its development progresses.
