Virtual reality (VR) production company Jaunt is well known in the industry for producing original content, and has collaborated with numerous partners to achieve this. Now Jaunt and Condé Nast Entertainment have teamed up with renowned Director Doug Liman, Producer Julina Tatlock and Screenwriter Melisa Wallack to create a VR action-adventure series called INVISIBLE.
The six-part series, which will be available via the Jaunt VR app later this year is set in modern day Manhattan, and will unravel the secrets of a prominent New York City family, the Ashlands. Over several generations a supernatural gift has been passed down which is growing in power, and the birth of a new child threatens to reveal the family secret.
“Doug Liman is a visionary Hollywood filmmaker and his decision to undertake this project in VR is a testament not only to the validity of the medium, but also to his fearless pioneering spirit,” said Cliff Plumer, President of Jaunt studios in a statement. “Episodic series such as INVISIBLE are the future of mainstream VR content and will make waves attracting ever growing audiences. This partnership also ensures that Jaunt will continue to remain at the forefront of premium VR content production and distribution.”
“Exceptional content is at the core of our business, and we’re always looking for innovative ways to engage audiences,” added Dawn Ostroff, President of Condé Nast Entertainment. “Virtual reality offers us a tremendous opportunity to push the boundaries of our storytelling, and provide audiences a fully-immersive viewing experience. We’re thrilled to work with Jaunt and Doug Liman on Invisible, I can’t think of better partners to have as we embark on this exciting and cutting-edge journey.”
The six INVISIBLE episodes are directed by Doug Liman, Michael Litwak and Jerome Sable. The Jaunt VR app can be downloaded for Android and iOS devices as well as the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD).
