The Solus Project Goes Live on Steam Early Access

VRFocus has covered GRIP Digital and Teotl Studios survival adventure videogame The Solus Project fairly regularly over the last few weeks, as the developers released new trailers on the gameplay and back story. Now gamers can get their hands on an early access version of the title through Steam today.

The Solus Project can now be purchased for a 10 per cent discounted price of £9.89 GBP until the 25th February, with the Early Access version featuring a staggered release. To begin with the first three levels of the game will be available, giving around 1-2 hours worth of gameplay. With the team planning on being in Early Access for approximately 90 days, additional content will be made available every few weeks. The next release will add levels 4, 5 and 6. The third adding levels 7 and 8, with the fourth including level 9. There could be a fifth update which would be level 10, but the developers may hold off and include 10, 11 + the end game sequence until the full release.

“The Solus Project is a unique experience. Combining survival and exploration with a more linear narrative-driven storytelling. The environment itself is going to be the biggest enemy and the mysteries are going to be the biggest motivation for the players to continue their journey,” said Jakub Mikyska, CEO of GRIP Digital in a statement. “With The Solus Project we spent years creating a rich and atmospheric extraterrestrial world for people to immerse themselves into,” added Sjoerd De Jong, Creative Director of Teotl Studios.

Virtual reality (VR) support has been implemented but still experimental, with the team testing on an Oculus Rift DK2. The consumer versions of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive will be supported, but the developer does note that “VR support might not mature entirely and might remain experimental.”

VRFocus will continue its coverage of The Solus Project, reporting back on any further updates.
