Project X-Ray Renamed RoboRaid, Set for HoloLens Dev Launch

Microsoft unveiled Project X-Ray, a first-person shooter (FPS) videogame designed exclusively for HoloLens, during a Windows 10 briefing in October 2015. Now it appears as though the videogame has been renamed RoboRaid and is set to launch alongside the Development Edition of the HoloLens next month.

RoboRaid is the only title that has been showcased using the HoloLens’ videogame controller (while still known as Project X-Ray) though in VRFocushands-on time with the title gesture controls were the only input available. There has been no discussion of the videogame controller release, and it’s not yet known whether this device will be available as part of the HoloLens Development Edition pre-order bundle.

The renaming and suggestion that RoboRaid will be available from next month comes via a blogpost from Kudo Tsunoda, corporate vice president at Microsoft, as leaked by Fortune. RoboRaid has been developed by Asobo Studios, the same team reportedly responsible for the upcoming reboot of Rare’s infamous Conker franchise via HoloLens.

No further details regarding RoboRaid are available at present, but of course VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on the impending HoloLens Development Edition launch.
