Last week VRFocus reported on Intermersive, Inc. launching its 360-degree social sharing platform, Spinnable. The app which is currently only available for iOS allows user to create, watch and share immersive 360-degree content. Now the company has announced a new partnership with Ricoh, creator of the Theta S camera to directly integrate the device with the app.
Spinnable users who own a Ricoh Theta S can use the 360-degree camera to capture and then directly upload images straight to the app. Once uploaded the media can be controlled with the swipe of a finger, or by panning the smartphone. The Ricoh Theta S camera can also be purchased through the app.
“Although Spinnable is hardware agnostic, we’ve chosen the Ricoh Theta S as the first camera to directly integrate with Spinnable because of its compact form factor, image quality and price point,” said Mark Demarest, CEO and Co-Founder, Spinnable in a statement.
The Ricoh Theta S can capture high-resolution photo or video, with spherical images of nearly 14 mega-pixels and HD video at 30fps, with a maximum recording time of 25 minutes.
“Spinnable is creating a new, highly engaging way for consumers, companies and artists alike to share life’s experiences with one another, and our Ricoh Theta S is the ideal camera to capture this content,” said Jim Malcolm, president, Ricoh Imaging Americas. “We are excited to be a part of the new and growing Spinnable community.”
While the Spinnable app is only currently available for iOS devices, Intermersive, Inc. has said Android support would be available soon. VRFocus will continue to bring you any further updates on the Spinnable app as details are released.
