In an unexpected twist today Microsoft has been revealing new information on its HoloLens mixed realty (MR) head-mounted display (HMD). Pre-orders for the device have now gone live for the developers kit, retailing for $3000 USD. Studios purchasing the Development Edition will get three videogames supplied with it, one of them being Fragments a MR crime drama. And now Microsoft has released the first trailer for the title.
Created by French developer Asobo Studio, Fragments puts players in the role of a detective who must investigate clues and solve crimes that are taking place in their own house. Microsoft’s Kudo Tsunoda wrote in a blog today about the experience: “As a holographic platform highlight, Fragments demonstrates how creators can build characters and storylines that drive a higher level of emotional engagement and attachment than you can with any other medium. Trust me, the first time one of our Fragments characters comes in to your home, sits down on your sofa, and strikes up a conversation with you it is an unforgettable experience.”
Alongside Fragments the HoloLens kit will also come with Young Conker and RoboRaid when it ships to the US and Canada on 30th, March 2016. VRFocus will continue to cover the latest HoloLens announcements in the run up to the Developer Edition launch.
