UploadVR Announces the Creation of Upload Collective

The past week has seen a slew of announcements been made regarding virtual reality (VR) at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2016. The latest is by online news site UploadVR, revealing the creation of the Upload Collective.

The Upload Collective is an incubation and co-working space based in San Francisco that aims to bring together companies working in the VR and augmented reality (AR) fields. Firms involved in the venture will be provided space and resources to improve growth in these fast growing industries.

The Oculus Rift headset is tested by attendees at the Eurogamer Expo at Earls Court in London.

“In launching the Upload Collective, our goal is to provide a single place for VR and AR companies to get the resources they need to accelerate their growth and success”, said Taylor Freeman, UploadVR’s Co-Founder and CEO in a statement. “2016 is the year that consumer VR will hit the mainstream and we plan to do everything in our power to support the community during the early stages of this platform shift.”

Due to launch in Q1 2016, the collective will accept AR and VR businesses at various levels of development on a rolling admission basis. With a focus on supporting companies that serve a social good, members will have  access to VR/AR focused capital, hardware, software, corporate partners, talent, and community events as well as a large mentor network.

“I have always worn my heart on my sleeve. Transparency is something that is incredibly important to me,” adds Will Mason Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief at UploadVR. “It is something we will continue to strive for with the publication. I require it from my reporters, I require it from my sources, and most of all I require it of myself. We understand the importance of maintaining an unbiased voice and it will remain a focus of our editorial policy going forward.”

Those interested in becoming member, sponsor, or partner will need to contact UploadVR. VRFocus will continue to follow the progress of the Upload Collective closely, reporting back any further announcements.
