Stress Level Zero Shares New Hover Junkers Co-Op Gameplay
Virtual reality (VR) fans have been catching glimpses of Stress Level Zero’s anticipated upcoming title, Hover Junkers, for much of the past year. It was only earlier this month, however, that the team finally launched an IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign to raise some $100,000 USD. With the campaign now up and running the developer has released some brand new footage of the project, focusing on its co-op gameplay. Said footage can now be seen below.
This four-minute video shows two players teaming up to explore an environment named New Eden. According to the description, this is a low-gravity environment that’s filled with tar volcanoes. Players fly across the area in hovercraft that represent the area of Room Scale user tracking that’s provided by the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) with which the title runs. This allows the players to walk around their full environment but also move the craft itself so as to not be limited in terms of where they can travel.
Here both players face off against enemy ships, using the HTC Vive’s position-tracked controllers to realistically wield guns. Interestingly, while the player can’t see their own avatar, they can see their parnter’s.
So far Hover Junkers has raised around $15,000 USD of its $100,000 USD goal. The campaign page reveals that the project is also on the way to the Oculus Rift with support for the Oculus Touch controllers. The HTC Vive compatible version of the title should be launching in March 2016, with the Oculus Rift edition arriving in the second half of the year.
