Debuting at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts, US, on Wednesday 9th December 2015, will be a virtual reality (VR) art installation titled Between Lands. Created by Secret Portal, the VR experience will be on display for one night only to coincide with Hanukkah: The Festival of Lights.
Between Lands has been designed as a cooperative room-scale experience in which one person using a HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) partners with another visitor not in VR to illuminate physical sculptures in the exhibit. The video below is a early version of the project, with the final display piece being polished up.
Secret Portal consists of a number of videogame industry staff including Mike Mandel, a programmer/designer at Harmonix. Mandel is currently the lead programmer on Harmonix Music VR. He is also joined by 3 Harmonix artists that are contributing to this project along with some musicians.
The VR art installation will be running from 5:00pm – 5:30pm in the Trustee Room (Meeting Room 325). Admission is free but a ticket will be required.
Tickets are available at the New Center table in Shapiro Family Courtyard starting at 4:30 pm, and availability is limited. If you’re interested tickets can be reserved in advance here.
VRFocus will continue to bring you all the latest VR news and announcements as details are released.
