EdSim Challenge Announced by US Department of Education
There are already a number of companies and institutions experimenting and developing virtual reality (VR) software for a wide variety of training and educational purposes. The immersive nature of VR opens all sorts of prospects and The US Department of Education wants developers and educational technology communities to design simulated environments that prepare America’s students for a more competitive world through high-quality career and technical education through the launch of its EdSim Challenge.
The EdSim Challenge aims to create simulated learning experiences, such as immersive gaming environments, VR, and training simulations. These represent an emerging class of instructional content delivery in education that pair next generation technologies with educational content and integrated assessment. Beginning this week is a call for public feedback to help shape the Challenge design. This will close on Wednesday 9th December 2015.
After which submissions will open in spring 2016. No further dates have been announced other than finalists being announced in the summer and winner(s) being announced in late Autumn. More details will be made available when submissions open, including criteria, judges and prizes.
VRFocus will keep you updated on the latest developments to the EdSim Challenge as further details are announced.
