Esper 2 Gets A Release Date for Gear VR

Earlier in the year UK-based indie studio Coatsink Software launched its first ever virtual reality (VR) videogame in Esper for the Gear VR mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD). Since its launch, the developer has busied itself by porting the title to the Oculus Rift on PC, where it’s expected to launch next year. It’s also announced a direct sequel in Esper 2, again for Gear VR. You might have assumed that this follow-up would still be some way from release, but you’d be wrong as the team has today announced when it will launch.

Esper 2 will be available in a few days’ time on 10th December 2015. The title is priced at $9.99 USD/£6.65 GBP. A brand new launch trailer has also made its debut, and can be seen below. The sequel keeps the original’s core telekinesis mechanic in which players can simulate moving objects with their mind with the help of Gear VR’s head-tracking technology. That said, it will also expand on production values of that first title, visiting more locations and bringing on board a bigger cast of characters that includes the voices of Nick Frost, Lara Pulver and Sean Pertwee as well as Eric Meyers, the voice of Geoff from the original.

Esper 2 will be launching on the consumer version of the Gear VR, which released in the US on 20th November and has since been slowly rolling out to other territories across the world. The new kit costs $99 USD and supports Samsung’s range of 2015 smartphone releases. That includes the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge plus and Galaxy Note 5. The original title launched for the Innovator Editions of the device, which supported the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S6 respectively, though can also be played on the consumer edition.
