We’re going to take a brief unscheduled detour away from our recent coverage of Oculus VR’s released footage from this year’s Oculus Connect 2 event and head back to our usual morning realm of New To VR for an addition of significance to the Oculus VR Share platform.
As you know if you’ve been following VRFocus, CRYENGINE creators Crytek recently revealed that their first virtual reality (VR) videogame experience Back To Dinosaur Island (a technical precursor to their first full game in Robinson: The Journey) was to be released for free on Steam so that all may experience getting up close and very personal with dinosaurs in a bygone age.
Now Crytek have followed this up by bringing the follow-up to their original Dinosaur Island experience that was first shown in 1999 to Oculus VR Share. Currently the recipient of a full five star rating, users who wish to try the tech demo out will require an Oculus Rift DK 2 head mounted display (HMD) and SDK version 0.6 or 0.7. (Crytek note that support for 0.8 is currently in development.) For further information on the technical requirements please see the Oculus VR Share or Steam pages.
VRFocus will be back tomorrow with more session footage from Oculus Connect 2. Be sure to follow us throughout the day for VR and AR related news, features and videos and be sure to stay with us for any future news on announced follow-up Back To Dinosaur Island 2.
