Having previously reported how Secret Sauce, the organisers behind the annual VRTGO Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) conference and expo had teamed up with UK-based developer nDreams for a VR Competition, VRFocus has now been notified of the five finalists.
The competition which has been open for submissions for just over one month, aimed to showcase up and coming VR talent through innovative content and technology for videogames. The organisers received a overwhelming response, with entries coming from the UK, Ireland, France, Spain and as far afield as Brazil and India. nDreams has spent a number of days deliberating over which projects would make it through to the final pitching day due to take place today. Each developer will be given a chance to pitch their project and show a short demo to the judging panel.
The five companies announced as the finalists are:
- Mikael William Bergene – project name: “Teleport VR”
- Luca Conesa – project name: “Apnea”
- Head Start Design – project name: “Dimensional”
- 4PM – project name: “Legacy”
- PulseVR – project name: “Santa’s Slave Drive”
Carri Cunliffe from Secret Sauce said: “It has been interesting to see the high level of innovation displayed by these start-ups and students. I am looking forward to seeing their demos at VRTGO and the reactions of the delegates – hard to believe a lot of these guys are students!”
