Ustwo Games On Mobile VR and Studio’s Future with the Tech

Last week, as half of a 2-part interview series, VRFocus spoke to Ustwo Games, the team behind last year’s celebrated mobile hit, Monument Valley, discussing its new virtual reality (VR) project, Land’s End. The title is set to release at the end of this week on 30th October 2015 for Samsung and Oculus VR’s Gear VR mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD). Today we complete that series by again talking to Technical Director Peter Pashley, this time about mobile VR itself and the advantages it boasts over PC and console-based HMDs.

In the interview below, Pashley tells the story of how Ustwo Games came to be involved with VR and the Gear VR itself, as well as talking about the company’s possible future with the technology. He explains why mobile VR may present some unique opportunities for the industry over the other major HMDs, even if it can’t yet measure up to their levels of graphical fidelity.

Land’s End is a first-person puzzle-based experience in which players explore a series of islands. It’s a relaxing experience that, if early impressions are anything to go by, should be well worth any Gear VR owner’s time. VRFocus will continue to follow the title closely, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
