Receiving its full public launch this weekend in New York is The Hunger Games Virtual Reality Experience. Lionsgate, in partnership with Samsung will be taking fans on a 6-minute, 360-degree immersive journey through some of the defining moments of The Hunger Games film franchise using the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD).
A shorter 1-minute clip was shown last weekend at Best Buy and now fans will be able to try the full VR experience at POP 14 on 353 W 14th Street between 11am to 7pm, reports QuarterQuell.org.
“Our goal is to create new and exciting experiences for consumers,” said Joanne Lovato, vice president, Brand and Entertainment Marketing at Samsung Electronics America in a statement. “Through our continued partnership with Lionsgate, we look forward to sharing exclusive content with fans and giving them never-been-seen-before footage from the entire Hunger Games series, including the upcoming Mockingjay – Part 2.”
“The Tab S2 sneak peek and Gear VR experiences in this promotion offer unique and engaging opportunities for fans to become immersed in the world of The Hunger Games while also building excitement for the November 20th global launch,” said Paula Kupfer, Senior Vice President, Global Partnerships and Promotions, Lionsgate.
Alongside the launch in New York the experience will be available to download for the Gear VR HMD from this weekend. It is also due to be made available for iOS, Android device and Oculus Rift in the near future.
