Its the really innovative use of technology that can sometimes help ideas stick out from the crowd, and that’s what Kirsty Mac is trying to do with her Tech Meets Paper range. The Glasgow-based entrepreneur has launched a IndieGoGo crowd funding campaign to bring her augmented reality (AR) stationery to the wider consumer market.
The Tech Meets Paper range covers a selection of items, featuring notebooks, pencils and pens, alongside an app that will enable downloads of further digital stationery such as planners, audio tracks and quote cards. The final part of the app is the AR functionality. Parts of the notebooks will show videos on a smartphone or tablet.
Speaking to the Scottish Business News about the project, Mac said: “I have always loved stationery, I love good quality paper with a difference and wanted to bring that thought out of my head and actually make it happen. I really love the idea of the augmented reality and have used it with clients to bring materials to life and therefore wanted to do something a bit differently for us.
“The notebooks are great spaces for you to write, draw and scribble. The Signature notebook itself is different in its design and allows you to have several projects on the go at once. The application is the difference that makes the difference and provides trigger videos for inspiration and thought processes. Combine the two and you have something really quite remarkable, i.e. it gets people talking.”
Mac is looking to raise £10,000 GBP to fund the Tech Meets Paper project, and has so far raised £2,810 GBP in 10 days, with the campaign ending on 21st October 2015.
