Indie developer Mindfield Games has been taking its upcoming story-driven first-person adventure title, Pollen, to a number of events recently. The team has been to Gamescom in Germany, PAX Prime in the USA and EGX in the UK over the past 2 months, showing the title with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) to press and public alike. No doubt the team will have been looking to raise the general awareness of its title throughout this period, as it is today launching a Steam Greenlight campaign looking to get the title approved for sale on Valve’s digital storefront.
On top of this, Mindfield Games has revealed new story details about Pollen and its alternate history timeline. According to the developer, this universe splinters off from the real one when President Kennedy survives the historic assassination attempt in 1963. As a result, NASA and Soviet space scientists are unified, working together to build a research base on the moon. Advances in space travel continue to accelerate and a fictional company named Rama Industries sets up ‘Station M’ on Saturn’s largest moon, Titan.
The campaign has been launched alongside a new trailer for the title, which can now be seen below. It showcases the title’s immersive gameplay, in which players explore Station M, uncovering what has happened to its crew as they progress through the environment. As they go, players will find some audio diaries from the missing staff as well as objects left behind by them, allowing them to inspect these items in close details and even interact with them in realistic ways.
VRFocus will continue to follow Pollen closely, reporting back with the latest updates on the title.
