Jaunt VR Aims for Fashion Market with InStyle Collaboration

Cutting edge technology is never usually seen as fashionable. Companies may try to create products that are athesticly pleasing by enlisting designers for their experience. Virtual reality (VR) company, Jaunt VR a 360 degree video group that has spent the past year releasing a wide range of new content that is compatible with head-mounted displays (HMDs), has now teamed up with fashion magazine InStyle.

The collaboration will see Jaunt VR filming Time Inc’s InStyle November issue cover shoot with actress Drew Barrymore. During the 360 degree film the actress is shown posing for photographs and addressing the viewer.

Scott Broock, Jaunt VR’s vice president of content, told Reuters that the fashion magazines audience: “not the normal expected crowd people would think for VR. People always think it’s for male (video) gamers, but it’s important, not just for us but for virtual reality as a whole, that people understand it’s for everybody.”

The immersive 360 degree video will be available through Jaunt VR’s smartphone app for free. Using VR head-mounted display’s (HMD’s) like the Google Cardboard, users can properly experience the film. The fashion magazine will also be providing it’s own branded cardboard HMD’s to some of its subscribers and offering 1,000 of the HMD’s via its website.
