EVE: Valkyrie Opens Pre-Alpha Sign Ups

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from CCP Games and its upcoming virtual reality (VR) flight simulation experience, EVE: Valkyrie. The title, which has served as something of a poster child for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) for the past few years, was seen at the developer’s EVE Fanfest event in its home city of Reykjavik, Iceland earlier in the year. There, CCP Games revealed plans for pre-alpha testing of the title for those with the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2). Today fans can finally sign up to take part in the testing phase.

CCP Games has launched pre-alpha sign ups over on the official EVE: Valkyrie website. Hopeful entrants will need to provide their name, email address, country, graphics cards, installed RAM and even the serial number of their DK2 device, just to prove that they actually have one. Obviously CCP Games will be making sure that pre-alpha testers all have machines that are actually capable of running the videogame before they open the doors. It’s not yet clear when the pre-alpha testing will start.

EVE: Valkyrie is an online multiplayer dogfighting experience that’s set in CCP Games’ popular universe that started with the ever-popular EVE Online massively multiplayer online (MMO) title. It’s not yet clear when the title will be launching in full, although the Oculus Rift itself isn’t due until the first quarter of 2016. The videogame is also on its way to the PlayStation VR HMD on the PlayStation 4. The developer hasn’t confirmed if a port to Valve’s HTC Vive HMD on PC is also possible.

CCP Games has also been working on other VR projects, which includes Gunjack for the Gear VR mobile HMD.

VRFocus will continue to follow EVE: Valkyrie closely, reporting back with the latest updates on the title.
