Studio Wildcard’s first-person survival videogame, ARK: Survival Evolved has today proved how popular the title is. The virtual reality (VR) compatible videogame which features full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), has now surpassed the two million mark for units sold.
To celebrate this sales milestone the developer is offering survivors a chance to talk with the team, by hosting a developer AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit. The popular title has seen the developer release regular updates, with a new dinosaur added almost weekly. VRFocus reported on ARK: Survival Evolved receiving a significant expansion by adding two new biomes, snow and swamp, greatly increasing the scope and type of real estate and adding complexity to the environment and AI behaviour.
And over the last two months Studio Wildcard has built up a competitive aspect to the game and is in the third phase of its Survival of the Fittest competition, “The Last Stand,” featuring more than 230 players and $60,000 USD in prizes, throwing the survival-adventure title into the competitive e-sports field.
The Early Access version of ARK: Survival Evolved is also part of Steam’s Midweek Madness offer, having 33 percent shaved off of its price and bringing it to $19.99 USD/£15.40 GBP. The deal is only available until Friday 9th October 2015 so there isn’t long left to go.
VRFocus will continue to follow ARK: Survival Evolved, reporting back with the latest updates on the title from Studio Wildcard.
