Studio Wildcard isn’t slowing down when it comes to updates for its popular first-person survival videogame, ARK: Survival Evolved. Last week saw the developer launch 2 new biomes in its ‘Swamp’ and ‘Snow’ areas, expanding the virtual reality (VR) compatible title’s map. Today the team is ready to reveal yet another new feature, this time in the form of a flying dinosaur battleship known as the ‘Quetzalcoatlus’. On top of this, the pre-release version of ARK: Survival Evolved is also being put on sale.
The beast, nicknamed ‘Quetz’, is capable of carrying supplies, creatures and of course players themselves across the ARK: Survival Evolved map to other bases. The rare dinosaur can be found in the clouds. A brief trailer showing a group of Quetzs that have been tamed can be seen below. 3 players soar through the air with them in a group before we see them carrying massive platforms with usable turrets on their backs and even entire buildings. This gives the player news ways to hunt other dinosaurs and more.
The Early Access version of ARK: Survival Evolved is also part of Steam’s Midweek Madness offer, having 33 percent shaved off of its price and bringing it to $19.99 USD/£15.40 GBP. This offer lasts until 9th October 2015 so act fast if you want to take advantage of it.
ARK: Survival Evolved features full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) on PC and could well be getting HTC Vive integration too. The developer is also bringing the title to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2016, with the latter version supporting the PlayStation VR HMD. A full release of all versions is expected in June 2016.
VRFocus will continue to follow ARK: Survival Evolved closely, reporting back with the latest updates on the title.
