Virtual reality (VR) technology is growing in popularity by the day, paving the way for some significant developments between those that specialise with in the field. This month sees the announcement of a new strategic partnership between VR experience creator, The Virtual Reality Company (VRC), and VR hardware developer, Ion Virtual Technology Corporation (IonVR). The partnership will allow the pair to work on new content together and more closely collaborate on how that content fits specific platforms.
Though just announced, the partnership’s first project will be on display later today at TechCrunch’s Disrupt event in San Francisco, California. IonVR’s mobile head-mounted display (HMD) will be showcased at the event with an excerpt of VRC’s own content, There.
“I can’t think of a more exciting way to realize the limitless potential of virtual reality than to marry VRC’s high-quality creative content with IonVR’s cutting-edge technology,” said VRC Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer Robert Stromberg. “It’s the collision of two great forces that will now make anything virtually possible.”
Stromberg himself directed There, which is described as a feature-length journey that will take the form of its own VR series. It will take advantage of IonVR’s optical solution that addresses the problems of motion blur and latency in VR.
VRFocus will continue to follow any and all VR companies, reporting back with the latest updates on them.
