Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) videogame Star Conflict created by developer Gaijin Entertainment, who also makes the ever popular War Thunder, has released a new update for the space simulator. Titled Dogs of War, the 1.2 update features several major additions including a focus on mercenaries.
In Star Conflict ‘Dogs of War’, now lets mercenaries – non-corporate Star Conflict players – join Dreadnought battles for control over sectors directly. This skips the previous ‘call for help’ system. Another addition for mercenary players are six new customizable spacecraft with various offensive and defensive capabilities depending on a players style. The last addition is a new ‘Defense Contract’ mode which has mercenaries defending peace loving deep space locations from pirates. Two new locations have been added, Monolith Ruins and Sanctuary, as well as a new boss called The Destroyer.
“The ‘Dogs of War, update offers a lot of new content and game additions tailored to our mercenary players,” said Stanislav Scorb, CEO of StarGem Inc in a statement. Previously, certain aspects of the game were only accessible to corporation members, including the Dreadnought battles, which are very popular. We want everyone to enjoy the Star Conflict experience, and ‘Dogs of War allows that”.
Star Conflict currently supports the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), and VRFocus will continue to report on the latest updates and announcements on Star Conflict as they’re released.
