Following the reveal of a new virtual reality (VR) demonstration for Final Fantasy XIV: Online yesterday, Square Enix have offered VRFocus comment on the state-of-play with the asset moving forward. As was almost certain to be the case, it appears that Square Enix’s support for the newly renamed PlayStation VR will likely come in a different format from here on out.
The Final Fantasy XIV Online: VR Demo set to be playable at the Tokyo Games Show (TGS) this week appears to be nothing more than that: a demo built solely for the purposed of TGS: “This is a demo that’s been created for TGS, we don’t have any plans for an official release,” offered a Square Enix representative in response to VRFocus‘ enquiry.
It should be noted that Square Enix are already involved in VR, with Hitman GO officially confirmed for release on Gear VR. The publisher is clearly weighing up its options for the new medium, and VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on Final Fantasy XIV Online: VR Demo and other VR projects from Square Enix.
