Last week it was announced that Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE’s) PlayStation VR – which was until recently called Project Morpheus – would be heading to the EGX consumer event in Birmingham, UK next week along with the company’s Head of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida. A booth to try out the upcoming virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) will be on the show floor but, for the best chance of playing it, the company will soon start accepting sign-ups from attendees.
Starting Friday 18th September at 13:00 BST the PlayStation website will start accepting registrations for EGX goers to sample PlayStation VR. Fans will have to select a specific day and time slot in order to minimise what will likely be an already length queuing process. People are advised to turn up 15 minutes before their appointment with the confirmation email and proof of ID in-hand.
“You’ll be asked to register for an account on the site, and you’ll then just need to select your event (EGX) and choose your time,” an update on the EGX site explains. “Demos will start at 10:40, so remember that you’ll need to already have an early access ticket for the show if you’re booking an early slot. Standard Day Ticket entry to the show starts at 11am, so if you have one of these tickets, we’d recommend not booking before 11:40.”
PlayStation VR is set to launch in the first half of 2016, though a specific date and price are yet to be announced. VRFocus will continue to follow the HMD closely, reporting back with the latest updates on it.
